Q. I have a chip in my windscreen can it be repaired?
A. Yes.As long as it is smaller than a $1 coin it can be repaired. Q.Its for a roadworthy will it pass? A, Its best to check with the person carrying out the roadworthy first as sometimes the overall condition will not pass. Q I have a crack in the glass 10cm long. Can you repair it? A. No Unfortunately it would only be a temporary repair and is not up to standards. Q. My car is outside in the car park can you do it there? A. If the car is in full sun and very hot, NO the glass needs to be cool we need it to be undercover also the damaged area needs to be dry as rain will enter the chip and will not allow the repair resin to penetrate the damaged area. It is best to cover the damage with some clear sticky tape (outside) to prevent water and dirt contamination ASAP. Q.Is it worth repairing my windscreen? A.I depends on the overall condition of the glass if its a 15 year old glass with multiple chips and a wiper scratch then no its far better to replace it, the overall improvement in vision will be vastly improved. |
Q. I have a car with anti-collision cameras can you repair a chip?
A. Yes as long as it is not in the view of the camera lens, it makes sense to repair these newer windscreens as replacement is expensive and time consuming. Q. I have a crack running from the edge at the top downwards and rust in the roof above it can you repair it? A. No It sounds as though rust growing under the glass from previous poor quality work has put pressure under the glass and caused the damage. The glass will need to be removed and rust repairs carried out. We can help you with this process. Q. My car was hit by a golf ball can you repair the damage? A 'Yes but It will need to be replaced. Q.I have a chip that runs to the edge of the windscreen is it repairable? A, No the resin injected will run out of the edge of the glass and will not be a successful repair. Q. I have tiny chips all over the windscreen and when driving into the sun its very difficult to see especially when raining can you repair it? A. This damage is called sandblasting it is caused by road grit hitting the glass, it is the main cause for failing a roadworthy it can only be rectified by replacing the windscreen. NOTE. Some cars have chemical polish treatments rain x etc on the windscreens this will affect the repairs at times but the damage can usually stopped from spreading. |
